Our Story: From Vision to Impact

Women of Valour Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited (WoV Sacco) was established by retired women professionals who were motivated to address the high levels of poverty affecting their communities – especially among women, single mothers, widows, and youth and other marginalized groups.

They registered WoV Sacco in 2018 under certificate number CS/229228 to operate in Bungoma County. In a Special General Meeting held on 20th December, 2020 the Sacco was launched and the first Board of Directors was elected. The registered physical address of the Sacco is at Kenya Red Cross, Kanduyi, Bungoma.

Currently, the Sacco boasts of over 64 Common Interest Groups (CIG’s) of 25 members average spread throughout Bungoma County. Of the 64 groups, 29 of them are strictly in agriculture.

In 2024, the Sacco was competitively selected among many to enter into partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing a World Bank Project through National Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP). This partnership serves Khalaba Ward farmers in five value chains namely, avocado, chicken, dairy, banana and coffee.

The Central Management Committee, running the Sacco, consists of 9 members. Of these 9 members, 2 are men, 1 youth and another living with disability.

Oversight is done by an independent Supervisory Committee. This consists of 3 women, whose chair is a youth.

The Sacco draws its mandate from the Cooperative Act, its Bylaws, Board of Directors’ Minutes, and circulars from the Ministry of Cooperatives and other line ministries.

We bank with Cooperative Bank of Kenya and audited by Ministry of Cooperatives.
